Shag Carpet

Shag Carpet is a deep-pile texture with long-cut surface yarns. Shag carpet was popular in the 1970s; a new type of contemporary shag rug in more up-to-date colors is gaining in popularity today.

Shag carpet is back and bigger than ever. Plush and cozy shag carpet can be used in any room of the house, from the bedroom to the library. Available in a fabulous collection of designer colours and some even highlighted with strands of metallic yarn, shag carpet can also be used as a wall-to-wall treatment or custom cut into interesting area rug pieces.

To clean your Shag Rug, use Woolite and water. If you have a tough stain try using Dawn dishwashing liquid and water. Rub the stain area briskly and rinse with clear water to remove the suds.

To Vacuum your Shag Rug, set your vacuum on the high setting for thick carpet. If it is too hard to push you can use your vacuum attachments. It will not hurt the durability of your Shag rug to push the vacuum over it.

Initially your shag rug may loose some yarn but, that should stop after the yarn on the edges have caught the grip of the next tuft bind.

For flokati shags carpet, Flokati Shags are hand made and exclusively imported from Greece. They are made from 100% of the finest New Zealand wool. Long Pile, soft, and fluffy, they are extremely easy on the feet. Aside from being extremely hip, flokati shags are very durable and resilient.

Shag carpet care tips:

  • Routinely shake out to free dirt and lift wool pile.
  • Vacuum with out agitation. Suction only.
  • Machine washable. Use gentle cycle with COLD water and a MILD detergent. AIR DRY only... NO DRYERS.
  • May be professionally cleaned.
