Berber Carpet
Berber Carpet
The term Berber is applied to carpet that has the off-white heathered look of clocks used by
the Berber tribes of North Africa. Berber carpets use flecked yarns most often in loop styles.
The size of the loops vary from large nubby ones to small, fauxiscal styles.
Patterned Berbers are multi-level loop as well as cut and loop styles. Berber styles are also
available in pastels and dark tones as well as naturals.
Berber carpet has become very popular over recent year. One of the reason being that Berber carpet
does not leave much footprints and vacuum tracks. Berber carpet can also have thicker yarns than
other level loop pile carpets. These loops can retain dirt and may be damaged from snags.
Berber carpet comes in expensive wool fibers or less expensive nylon, olefin, or nylon-olefin fibers.
However, the most popular Berber carpet uses the olefin fiber.
Many Berber carpet uses multilevel loops as they offer more variety of pattern and random effects.
These styles range from the casual to the ultra elegant. For example, if you combine the herringbone,
basketweave and ribbed patterns, you get a Berber carpet that is neutral and natural in colors.
As a result, your Berber carpet complement well with furnitures that are made of natural materials
such as wood, wicker, and terracotta.
Moreover, Berber carpet is very durable and long lasting while lending its own distinct
character to any of your rooms -- from the casual comfort to the formal elegance.
Although the Berber carpet is easy to clean, do remember not to use too much water when cleaning. Since
Berber carpet is woven very tight, you will not get good suction from your carpet cleaning machine. The
result of leaving too much water in the Berber carpet will cause water stain.
